about me
I was born to a Goan family who has lived in Goa, Mozambique and Portugal.
A true reflection of the cultural diversity embedded in Portuguese cuisine.
My love of food and cooking started from a young age, and food brought my family together early and often.
My Mother, an artist in the kitchen, would constantly invited people into our home (I remember when I was in HighSchool she would invite most of my teachers for Monday’s Diner).
My family always cooked internationally – week days we would eat traditional Portuguese homecooking while the weekends we would have the rest of the family at home so we would have traditional Goan meals. She would make Goan samosas from scratch, teaching me the proper technique to make the dough and fold the samosas correctly.

When my mother passed away a few years ago, my friends began asking me to cook for them, saying how much they missed my mother’s cooking. Therefore I can say I can thank my friends for my second career, in food. I began by cooking the family recipes, Goan and Portuguese, that my mother’s friends loved so much.
After taking a course in cake design, I also started baking and found another passion in creating art from cakes.
I opened my own Kitchen studio in March 2016 and have been baking and doing catering since then. I was introduced to Travelingspoon.com by a client that refere it to me as she thougth I would enjoy doing the classes. And this is how I started these Cooking classes. Again, in 2021, a very sad event, when my Dad passed away, led me to rethink my path in life, and decided to honor him, as well as my Mother, by opening my house to my guests to share part of their story and Portuguese meal with international influence that will help you to truly understand Portuguese-Goan culture and local life.
